Hi, I’m Kelly Friis and I’m running for School Board Trustee for the San Dieguito Union High School District, Area 2. I’m a working mom with children at our high schools so I understand the importance of advocating for a quality education in SDUHSD. I’m committed to fostering positive change within our beautiful community.

My Platform
Academics
Strong academics is the number one priority for a school district. Some schools in our district are not meeting state standards nearly as much as they can or should be. My first goal is to focus on academic improvement.
Fiscal Responsibility
With a multiple decade long career in the financial services industry, I understand the importance of managing finances. Our district is currently running a deficit. We need to have board members with a strong financial background to understand the complexities of the budget.
Safe and Welcoming Environment
Every student deserves to be treated fairly and compassionately. We have a strong anti-discrimination policy, but we need to ensure that we listen to students and parents. When problems arise, they should be taken care of quickly by the right people with the right solution. Too many times, parents feel they are not believed or listened to, and they need to escalate their issue to a higher authority. We need a safe and respectful environment so our children can focus on learning.
